Safety And Security While Travelling To And Within Japan

If you ever wonder if it is ok to travel to Japan now, the answer is "Yes." Please go to Japan, buy more stuff, help their economy. However, there are still a few precautions you have to take. I received this letter this morning:

SAFETY AND SECURITY WHILE TRAVELLING TO AND WITHIN JAPAN

Malaysians that need to travel to Japan are advised to avoid areas in the north east of Japan that have been heavily hit by the earthquake and tsunami due to the disruption to essential services such as transport and electric power. The Japanese authorities have also issued a directive to people living within 30km of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Station to remain indoors. Malaysians are to avoid travel to those areas.

Malaysian citizens in the affected prefectures that are facing shortages of food, water and other essential items are advised to leave for Tokyo and contact the Malaysia's Embassy in Tokyo at (+813) 34763840 or email: maltokyo@kln.gov.my

Malaysians in Japan are encouraged to register through the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Registration of Malaysians Abroad E-Consular system at the website: http://www.kln.gov.my/web/guest/ekonsular. By registering, Malaysians make it easier for the Embassy to contact them in case of emergency.

The Ministry would like to advise Malaysians in Japan to always be alert to any directives issued by the local Japanese authorities concerning their safety and security.

Malaysians are to keep abreast with news from reliable sources and not to pay attention to any rumours that can be misleading and cause undue worries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is constantly monitoring the situation in Japan through the Malaysian Embassy in Tokyo. The Operations Room in Wisma Putra and the Malaysian Embassy in Tokyo will continue to operate 24 hours until further notice.

Thank you.

MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

WISMA PUTRA

See how caring our ministry is towards our people? Awwww...I m starting to love them =3

Mr.E signing off, wish that Japan could have a better tomorrow...
